Slightly better than very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Reprint of the 1970 edition published by Manchester University Press. This book surveys the whole economic and social life of the mining community, living far from the smoke and grime of the towns of the Industrial Revolution, yet one in which in 1851 they were proportionately more widows in Alston than in any other parish in the country. The central theme is the developing relationship between the miners and their employers. Grey cloth boards, silver title to spine.
Top & tail of spine slightly shelf worn. Minor mark to vertical edge of text block. Contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is slightly grubby.
