by Frances Morris; Christopher Green
Illustrated by Henri Rousseau
Published by Tate Publishing. 1st. 2005
Fine condition in a nearly fine dustwrapper. Produced on the occasion of the exhibition which ran from 2005-2006. Rousseau was a self-taught artist whose unique vision is perhaps best exemplified in his jungle scenes. These dream-like tableaux, based largely on visits to the Jardin des Plantes in Paris, captivate the viewer with the lushness of their colours and the unsettling exoticisim of the imaginary tropical world they portray. Large oblong format. Green boards, light green title to spine and vignette of a big cat to front. Colour illustrations throughout. 232 pages.
