Very good condition. Underground Scenes by Flash-Light: A series of photographs with explanatory letterpress, illustrating methods of working in Cornish mines. Part I: An Account of the Photographic Experiences by J.C. Burrow; Part II: A Description of the Subjects Photographed by William Thomas. Large format. Red cloth boards, gilt titles. Frontis plus 26 b/w mounted photographs with tissue guard, two per page. 32 text pages. All edges gilt.
Spine rubbed, slight loss to tail of spine, top & tail have slight fraying, gilt title to spine is rubbed and faded. Corners worn. Boards a little stained by damp, mainly to the rear board. Prelims have been professionally reinforced to front and rear joints.Name and date in ink to half-title page (dated 1979). Tissue paper to frontis is torn. Contents crinkled by damp. Just a few red damp stains to top corner margins at rear of book not affecting photos. A few minor marks to contents. A nice copy of a scarce item.
