Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. In 1900, a young boy of twelve pays a visit to a school friend at a country house in Norfolk, and there becomes involved in a drama between three grown-up people which brings tragedy to one of them and to the boy himself temporary loss of memory and a lasting distrust of life. Red cloth, gilt title to spine.
Top of spine bumped and has a small damp mark, Lower corner bumped else boards clean. A few pale foxspots present mainly to endpapers and outer page edges. Pictorial wrapper has a few small damp stains at edges and is chipped at corners.
