Good condition. Volumes 1, 2 and 3 complete and bound together in dark blue cloth, gilt title to spine. Fold-out frontis. B/w illustrations.
Spine is browned with chipping/fraying to cloth along edges. Damp stain to rear cover. Other marks to covers. Tape to front joint. Inscription in ink and pencil inscription to front endpaper. Rear joint cracked. Page edge browning; some foxing. All parts and plates are present, including frontispiece (which is absent from many copies). Frontis has tape repairs to verso.
