Introduction by William J. Roberts. Blue cloth with gilt title to spine. Grey and white decorated endpapers. B/w wood engravings. 228 pages. Spine slightly bumped, slight rubbing to spine and corners. Tiny booksellers sticker to front pastedown. Endpapers are browned. Light foxing to textblock and top edge of textblock slightly dusty. Dustwrapper is chipped at edges with minimal loss and some loss to top of spine. Wrapper is slightly browned to spine and rear panel edges.

Large format. Green cloth, gilt titles and gilt shepherd vignette to front cover. 16 tipped-in colour plates by Rawlings. Numerous b/w illustrations by Thomson. Top edge gilt. Covers are unevenly browned. A few chips and nicks at cloth; with a little fraying in places. Plate to opposite page 27 is MISSING (mounting card and tissue-guard are still present, but plate no longer there). Some foxing and page browning.
