A new way of thinking about language. Introduced by David Crystal. Black cloth, gilt titles and gilt language illustration to front cover. Colour illustrations and b/w maps. Top edge gilt. xxix and 614 pages including index. Lower rear edge of spine is a little bumped, slipcase is bashed in the same area (worse than book but not too bad). Else a lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase which is a bit scuffed (VG with the corner bash).
