It was a bold new design that was the end product of a process that began when Boris Johnson promised a new Routemaster if he became mayor of London in 2008. He did, and this book is the story of how that pledge was developed into a bus during the first four years of his time as mayor and the further developments during his second and final term. The STL was one of the largest and certainly one of the most complex classes of motor bus ever to run in London service. This book is a record of the type's history from its introduction in 1932 to its demise almost a quarter of a century later. Large format. Matt red pictorial boards. B/w photos. ISBN: 0904711617. Boards clean. Hinges are pulled wide (glue dried out) but binding is tight. '5' written in pen to gutter edge of front endpaper. Else contents clean.
