The Ashington Group began in the early 1930s as an evening class of Northumberland pitmen keen to learn about art. Within weeks they were producing their own work and within a few years their paintings amounted to a complete record of life in a mining community. Pictorial cardwraps. B/w photos and illustrations, some colour illustrations. 176 pages including index. ISBN: 0904790819. A very nice copy.

Light shelf-wear to top of spine. Couple of minor foxspots to endpapers else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is browned and has a couple of spillage spots to lower front panel (tea?).

Remains of library label to front pastedown. Tape mark to vertical edge of pastedowns hidden by flaps of dustwrapper. Rear joint is cracked and last section in book loose but still bound in. 1" closed tear (no loss) to vertical margin of free rear endpaper. Pictorial dustwrapper is lightly creased and edge-rubbed.
