Although the author has obviously given this Jagdstaffel a fictitious number and changed the names of the pilots composing it, the incidents related in this book have a genuine ring and will be recognised as facts by anyone who has had experience of flying on the western front. Orange cloth boards, black title to spine. B/w photos. Corners bumped, top & tail of spine slightly discoloured. Text block and page browning. Some foxing to contents. Price-cut pictorial dustwrapper is edge-worn and torn with slight loss, rear panel is grubby.

Gwilym Lewis was sent to the Somme in 1916 as a boy of eighteen only just out of school. During his service he wrote long letters to his family who preserved them.
