2nd edition. Red leather spine and corners; raised bands to spine and gilt decorations and gilt title to dark title block. Marbled boards and endpapers. Spine has faded. Foxing to endpapers and outer page edges; a few to some page margins internally.

8 colour plates and 4 maps. viii plus 232 pages. The higher region of the Swiss Alps. Covers scuffed, corners bumped. Bookplate and name in ink to front pastedown. One plate missing, one plate has a repaired closed tear. One map edge chipped with slight loss to map. Most tissue guards to plates missing. One plate partly detached. Plates themselves are very nice. One hinge pulled. Some pencil annotation.
