Very good condition.
Green cloth with red and black title and vignette to front; gilt title to spine. All edges gilt. 252 pages. Boards a little grubby. Gilt text block nice and bright. Light browning to endpapers. Top margin of prelims a little chipped and torn (likely from being prised open). Front joint is pulled between verso of front endpaper and half-title page else binding is tight.

A series of sketches too miscellaneous to form a connected work, ranging from Queen Elizabeth to a dormouse. Contains a chapter on Penallt Church, Monmouthshire. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine, black title to front. 8 b/w plates Spine lightly browned and slightly cocked. Text block browned. Foxing througout. 1 plate missing (Furstin Pauline of Lippe).

2nd edition. Burgundy cloth with gilt titles and vignette to front cover. 87 pages plus publishers booklist to rear. Top edge gilt. 15 plates hand-coloured. Tissue-guard to frontis. Yellow endpapers. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. A few light spots to covers. Light pink damp stains to edges of endpapers. Browning to half-title, tissue-guard of frontis and to last page of booklist. Foxing and some page edge darkening throughout. A good example of the 2nd edition.
