Nearly fine condition in a slightly better than very good dustwrapper. Unabridged republication of the eleven volume work "Animal Locomotion: an electro-photographic investigation of consecutive phases of animal movements originally published in 1887. Includes all 781 plates. Most of the plates show three different simultaneous perspectives on a single action - front, rear, and side or three-quarter view - which Muybridge achieved through ingenious use of from 152 to 56 cameras and his own electromagnetic tripping device. Large format. Pale blue cloth boards with dark blue title label and gilt title to spine. Very heavy!
Text blocks slightly grubby. Contents are fine. Grey pictorial dustwrappers are lightly creased and lightly scuffed.
