CAYLEY'S FAMOUS 10 MEMOIRS ON QUANTICS
Almost very good condition. Large format. Green leather spine and corners; raised bands to spine. These 10 memoirs have been extracted from the 'Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society of London' published 1854-1879 - the contents have then been bound together into one volume (Note - for this reason - not all page numbers are sequential). The author Cayley was an English mathematician and leader of the British school of pure mathematics that emerged in the 19th century. His work on matrices served as a foundation for quantum mechanics.
Leather spine and corners have some heavy wear, with fading and chipping; bumping to top and tail of spine. Bookplate to front pastedown. Foxing and a few page margins to pages internally. Some pages have ink annotation.
