Three-quarter maroon leather binding (spine & corners). Brown cloth boards. 5 raised bands to spines. Gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations and plates, some folding. Title page to volume I (A to D) only. D to M, M to S and S to Z follow on in page numbering. 2831 pages spread over the four volumes.
Undated but approximately 1880s. Leather is rubbed and worn with some surface loss. Boards marked/stained. Some foxing present as to be expected for a book of its age. Else contents clean. 2 pages detached from volume II (D to M) else binding is tight.
