Almost very good condition in a fair dustwrapper. Blue cloth. Gilt titles. 5 Volumes of The Handbook of British Birds. Volume 1 details Crows to Flycatchers: Volume II details Warblers to Owls: Volume III details Hawks to Ducks: Volume IV details Cormorants to Crane: Volume V details Terns to Game-Birds. Each Volume contains coloured & b/w plates, text figures & maps. Each plate is accompanied by detail on habitat, field-characters and general habits, voice, display & posturing, breeding, food, distribution, migrations, description with 2 additional sections.
Spines and corners bumped and worn, with slight fraying at spines. Some boards have stain marks. Contents generally clean and firmly bound in all volumes. Wrappers are browned at spines, edge creased and torn with some loss. Wrapper of vol. 1 is in two pieces, wrapper of vol. 2 has damage to centre of spine, and front flap of wrapper to vol. 3 almost detached.
