This book was was the first great classic devoted to Cornish mining. This is a facsimile of the 1778 edition. Containing the Theory and Natural History of Strata, Fissures, and Lodes, with the Methods of Discovering and Working of Tin, Copper and Lead Mines, and of Cleansing and Metalizing their Products... 7 b/w plates (some folding). Includes list of original subscribers. Light diagonal lower corner crease to title page and following page. All plates present. Text block slightly grubby else contents clean. Black dustwrapper is lightly scuffed with a few air bubbles beneath publisher's laminate, edges strengthened to verso with clear tape.
Green cloth. 27 colour plates. 30 b/w photographs. 2 line drawings. A New Naturalist publication. 2nd edition. Spine slightly bumped. Fading to spine and cover edges. Name and date in ink to front pastedown. Foxing to endpapers and text block. Dustwrapper is edge worn, tape repairs to spine and corners which have browned.

Large format. Blue cloth with white, black and yellow title. This is the Deluxe edition and includes a hand-produced facsimile of an Audubon watercolour (The Tufted Titmouse). Stunning colour illustrations throughout! In colour pictorial slip case. Features the one-and-only set of watercolours that Audubon created as a prototype for the large engraved edition of 'The Birds of America'. All 474 watercolours of the New-York Historical Society are reproduced. ISBN: 9780847839438. Wrapper has some very light edge-creasing. Facsimile reproduction painting is contained in an envelope to front endpaper, which has come unstuck from endpaper. Still excellent. This copy would make a wonderful gift. Slip case is in fine condition. Also contained in original colour cardboard box, which has a couple of dents and some wear.

A beautiful copy, a few minor marks to boards, small pink stain to front endpapers, small pale brown stain to prelims. Else plates are wonderfully bright and clean. Contained in publisher's slipcase in almost fine condition. Text book is present and in fine condition in its slipcase. Presented in the original shipping box from Folio Society.

Wood effect covers, what appears to be a leather spine. 12 leaves of card with mounted pressed plant specimens. The accompanying captions are in Hebrew, German, French and English. Some scuffing and wear to spine. Browning and some foxing throughout. Inscriptions in ink to verso of front endpaper. Pressed flowers appear very good still; a couple of the tissue-guards have come loose, but still present. A lovely item!
