Almost very good condition in a very good dustwrapper.
The STL was one of the largest and certainly one of the most complex classes of motor bus ever to run in London service. This book is a record of the type's history from its introduction in 1932 to its demise almost a quarter of a century later. Large format. Matt red pictorial boards. B/w photos. ISBN: 0904711617. Boards clean. Hinges are pulled wide (glue dried out) but binding is tight. '5' written in pen to gutter edge of front endpaper. Else contents clean. Pictorial dustwrapper is slightly faded to spine, rubbed at corners with lifting of red laminate.

The LT type bus which started to appear on London streets in 1929. The first vehicles of this class of over 1400 vehicles had outside staircases while the most developed examples led the way to the STL of 1932. All the variations are covered here, including the famous Bluebirds, the 'Scooter' single deckers and the two coaches. Large format. Matt pictorial boards. Trolleybuses first came to London in a small way, being introduced in south west London in 1931 by London United Tramways. Following on from this, in five years between 1935 and 1940 London Transport built up a massive and complex trolleybus network in its replacement of trams. When the Second World War brough development to a halt, London Transport had an operational fleet of 1,671 trolleybuses - by far the largest fleet in the world. Large format. Pictorial glazed boards.
