by Laurence Sterne; Graham Petrie; Gilbert Phelps

Illustrated by John Lawrence

Published by Folio Society. 1st thus. 1970

Slightly better than very good condition. Tristram begins his autobiography at his conception, complaining that his parents approached his creation without planning or forethought. Tristram’s birth was equally disastrous, but before narrating it he feels compelled to explain the context... Edited by Graham Petrie. Introduction by Gilbert Phelps. Olive green patterned cloth boards, white title block with gilt title to spine. B/w wood engravings. 492 pages.

Title block is scuffed, spine is lightly faded. Else a lovely copy contained in publisher's slipcase which is bumped at one end of spine and worn at the other.
