Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. Lorna Hill's first biography of a famous dancer. Peach boards with black title to spine. Colour frontis and b/w plates. 142 pages.

Spine a little bumped. A little foxing to the top of the text block otherwise contents are clean. Orange dustwrapper is a little edge worn. Spine is faded. Wrapper is a little grubby.

  • As a child, Marie was anything but beautiful. She had a plain pale face, very long arms and legs, which were considered a defect in those days, and a body so round-shouldered that she was nicknamed the 'little hunchback' by her classmates. Yet this little girl became one of the most superb dancers the world has ever seen. Her lightness and grace brought in an entirely new kind of dancing - the Romantic School. Had it not been for Marie Taglioni, there might well have been no Pavlova, Markova, Ulanova, or Fonteyn.
