Very good condition in a slightly better than good dustwrapper. The fourth story about Juliet Buckingham, her young brother Simon, and their friend Charles Renislau, the son of a famous violinist. Set in London. Blue boards, gilt title to spine. B/w illustrations.

Spine and corners a little bumped. Small bump to top of front board. Top and bottom of spine lightly faded. Large ink inscription to front endpaper. Small ink mark to top of title page which is also visible on verso. Foxing to text block edge otherwise contents clean. Price-cut dustwrapper is edge worn and chipped with tiny areas of loss. White marks and surface paper damage to front panel which obscures the faces of the two men. Rear panel and verso are foxed. Creases to both flaps.

  • The Palace in the story is an old house on the edge of Hampstead Heath, in which the three young people stay with their Uncle whilst the artist owner is abroad. They soon find a clue which suggests that the house may contain treasure hidden by a highwayman, but they encounter an old enemy - and two new ones - who are also hot on the trail. Simon finds the treasure but he and Juliet and Charles have some exciting and frightening experiences before they are able to restore it to its rightful owner.
