Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Blue boards, gilt title to spine. A cricket story.

SIGNED by the author on title page, "For David, the man who's never bowled over (well, at conferences) from Michael Hardcastle Birmingham 1985". Spine and corners bumped. Small white address label to front endpaper. A few corner tips creased and fingering to endpapers. Dustwrapper is very slightly grubby.

  • There is a long history of rivalry between the cricket clubs of Weston Edge and Highfield. The records show that Highfield win just about every time the clubs meet. But Kevin Hood, the captain of Weston Edge, feels that such results don't at all reflect the true talents of his ambitious team. So, to set the record straight once and for all, a challenge match is arranged between the two teams - an unlimited overs, two-innings match to be played to the finish. The grudge match gets under way: and little realising that he is about to make a piece of cricketing history, David Ingledew opens the batting for Highfield on a perfect wicket....
