by Michael Swan
Published by Her Majesty's Stationery Office. 1958
Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. British Guiana has been called the Land of Six Peoples, from the six different races that have their homes there. The greater part of this book deals with life on the coast, its customs, its turbulent politics, and the linked problems of its economy and social welfare. The author has also visited the Interior, travelling by plane, river-steamer, jeep, and dug-out canoe and on foot, observing the simple lives of the Amerindians. Red cloth boards, gilt title to spine. Colour frontis, b/w illustrations and photos. xv and 235 pages including index. Folding map to rear.
Second impression. A few light marks to boards. Contents clean. Map present, creased at edge. Pictorial dustwrapper is edge-rubbed and a little scuffed/grubby.
