R.M.Ballantyne's Books For Boys series. New Edition. Red pictorial cloth with gilt title-labels. Colour frontis and title-page. Floral decorated endpapers. 336 pages. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Spine very slightly darkened. Prize plate to front pastedown. Endpapers lightly browned. Grubby fingermarks to page margins and some pink stains to edges of first few pages.

Almost very good condition.
Comus is the pseudonym of R.M. Ballantyne. Red embossed cloth with gilt title and vignette to front. Eight colour plates. Contains music accompanied by the verse and a short story. Spine and corners worn. Damp stain to lower edge of front cover (4.5 x 1") affects the lower edges of the front endpapers and first 12 pages (including 3 plates - margins only, pictures not affected). Previous owner's name and address in ink to front endpaper. Some light foxing and fingering, a small closed tear and light creasing to front endpaper. Not as bad as it sounds, still a nice copy.

Robert Michael Ballantyne (24 April 1825 – 8 February 1894) was a Scottish author of juvenile fiction who wrote more than 100 books. He was also an accomplished artist, and exhibited some of his water-colours at the Royal Scottish Academy.
