Dugdale Society Vol. 44. Edited by Robert Bearman. With Indes to Vols I-VI. The decade 1599-1609 was at first dominated by the Corporation's lively efforts to extend its authority at the expense of the lord of the manor. This was followed by a period of consolidation leading eventually to the grant of a second charter in 1610 consolidating rights acquired piecemeal over the previous seven or eight years. This volume contains the Corporation's minutes and accounts but supplemented, from 1602, by the records of the borough sessions. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine. ix and 588 pages including index. ISBN: 9780852200940. A couple of pages have minor corner creases else the book appears unread. Pictorial dustwrapper is half (vertically) faded to spine.
