  • On the night of the big storm a very strange event occurs. Orville is too preoccupied with his pet pigeon to pay it much attention at first, but soon the whole world is buzzing with the news of the new planet that has appeared in the sky. Scientific probes reveal incredible facts; the planet has thin crust and a liquid interior, and is unlike any planet that has ever been discovered before. It is Orville who suddenly realises the dreadful truth about the planet's true nature. The trouble is, who will believe him? And when they finally do, how can they lift the terrible threat that hangs over the world? Frantic messages pass to and fro - from Russia to America, from America to London, as top scientists work together to try to prevent the seemingly inevitable disaster.
