- Worried by the activities of a gang of smugglers of dope and of cosmopolitan crooks, Scotland Yard enlist 'Steeley' Delaroy and 'Tubby' Wilde as special investigators. Their search leads to Castle Deeping, a old moated ruin in Hampshire and the scene of a recent unsolved murder mystery where they are ambushed in the cellars. They escape when the crooks flood the moat but not before they discover the identity of the leader. Steely poses as a crook and is accepted into the gang but he and Tubby must escape again when they are recognised by the Boss. More clashes ensue before the death of the Boss and capture of the remaining members finally breaks up the gang.
