Large format. Green cloth boards, front cover shows puppy and ducklng with orange title. Cream pictorial endpapers. 24 colour plates. Told from the point of view of Decimus Duckling who goes out to explore the world at large. 'F' in 'Farm' on front cover title is dulled. Inscription in ink to half-title page partly crossed out. One page detached. All plates present. Light offsetting to text pages from the plate opposite. A few fox spots present. Hinges pulled, some cracked. Front hinge cracked, first folio section detached at lower half. One page (VIII) has a closed horizontal tear with no loss. Still a charming copy.

A Short and a Merry One! A tale for children about a Persian cat named Mary and a dog named William. Oblong format. Green cloth spine, green paper boards, oblong pictorial onlay to front. 8 full page colour plates plus b/w illustrations. REDUCED FROM £480. Covers lovely and bright. First gathering a little loose and pulled at hinges. A few pale foxspots/marks else contents bright. White pictorial wrapper is edge-worn and torn with a little loss and a little grubby. A nice copy of a scarce item.

The plates are produced on stiff paper. 15.5" square. Blue cloth spine and corners; decorative boards; 18 colour plates loosely inserted; Art Nouveau style. The spine has been repaired with tape, the corners of the board covers are heavily worn with front lower corner loss; and the boards are stained. The plates are chipped with slight loss at the corners; two plates have closed tears; one plate has a small section cut out. REDUCED FROM £300

The "Notice of Publication Sheet" for the book dated 1817. Title Page for 1817 edition. Portrait of Matthew Gregson. Title Page for 1824 (second) edition. ix pages including updated subscribers list. Page vii repeated from original edition. Large folding map. 152 pages completes Part I. Part II dated 1817 continues the pagination through to page 302. Part III has cviii pages. One page prospectus for forthcoming fourth part. A coloured page titled "A List of the Sheriffs of Lancashire copied from Gregson's fragments of the History of that County" followed by pages 295 to 302 repeated but with all the heraldic shields hand coloured. A further document title "To the Freemen of Lancaster" seemingly one of 200 printed in 1780. 4 small pages with a review of Gregson's book. Two manuscript pages with notes relating to the book. One printed page which is a a letter from Gregson probably printed in a newspaper Titled "National Education in Drawing" and dated 1813. Numerous black and white illustrations and original card covers bound in. Bookplate to front pastedown. The contents are superb. Reduced from £350.
