Almost very good condition.
A descriptive account of the various regiments now comprising the Queen's forces, from their first establishment to the present time (vols I & II) and In India and the Colonies (vol III). Large format. Three-quarter leather binding, volumes 1 & 2 black leather with grey cloth sides, volume 3 burgundy leather with blue cloth sides. Gilt title to spines. Each volume has colour vignette to title page with tissue guard in place. Beautiful colour plates. Volume I has a cup ring stain on front side, is rubbed at corners. Front hinge between contents and list of illustrations is broken. Tissue guard is present, is creased with a few foxspots and a few small tears to gutter edge. Volume II is rubbed at corners. Tissue guard present but browned and worn at gutter edge. Prelims are detached (title page to vi of contents due to broken hinge. Between pages 262-263 a page containing three b/w photos of men in uniform has been expertly inserted. Hinge between page 264 and 265 broken. Volume III is rubbed at corners with slight loss of leather to base of spine. Tissue guard is missing between frontis and title page. Front section detached from title page to page vi of contents, cracked joint between title page and frontis. Pages 3-6 not bound in (but present). All plates are present throughout the set and in excellent condition. A few foxspots thoughout. A few cracked/pulled hinges. Some pencil annotation present to margins (comparatively little).
