Embossed green cloth, gilt. B/w text illustrations and plates. 543 numbered pages. Spine and corners bumped and slightly worn. Name plate to front pastedown. Looks like the prelims have been re-inserted/stitched and the front free-endpaper is missing. Browning to verso of the frontis (which is what you see upon opening the front cover). Child's name and address in ink to textblock. Musty smell to contents.

Second Series. 2 vols in 1. Pages: 352, xiv, 418. Contemporary three-quarter leather binding with marbled boards. 11 coloured plates, from drawings by F. W. Keyl and R. Huttula. Numerous b/w text illustrations (woodcuts). Book: book plate to front endpaper. Contents very good. Corners very worn. Top of spine chipped with loss. It appears that the prelims to volume II are missing as there is no title page for this section of the book although the contents list is present. It is also possible that the contents list for volume I is missing although it is not immediately obvious.
