Almost very good condition. Brown leather covers, raised bands to spines, gilt titles. Comprising Reminiscences of Social and Political Life in London and Paris During That Period. New edition, In Two Volumes. Raikes was best known in London as a dandy. He spent much of his time there in the fashionable clubs of the West End. Raikes' journal is notable for containing the memoirs of a man who counted among his friends some of the most influential men of his day.
Some rubbing/wear to spines and cover edges; a little loss to top layer of leather in places. A few scuffs to covers. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Volume I - the front endpaper is nearly detached, but still present. Inscriptions in ink to prelim pages of volume I. Volume II has damp marks to top of page edges of prelims. Foxing to both books.
