Almost very good condition. Six volumes in Five ('Ferns' is contained in volume III). Three-quarters calf with green cloth sides. 1 b/w plate plus 282 colour plates. Top edges gilt.
Bookplate to front pastedown of volume I. Boards are scuffed. Leather binding is rubbed and worn, volumes IV & V reinforced with black tape to front joints. Splitting to edge of top of spine of volume I on either side. Joints are cracked (volume I front joint is broken) but binding is still tight. Scattered foxing and browning to contents. Volume V inside front joint was reinforced with tape which has now disintegrated leaving a yellow tape mark. Overall, contents are quite handsome.
