The Personal History, Adventures, Experiences, and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery (Which He Never Meant to Be Published on Any Account). Burgundy leather spine with black title block and gilt title to spine. Red cloth sides with gilt borders. Top edge gilt. Red ribbon page marker. B/w illustrations. Contained in a nearly fine slip-case, just some scuffing along one edge.
Small format. Card wraps. What appears to be a seasonal booklet from Coleman's Mustard. Colour illustrations. Staples to spine have rusted. A few marks to covers. Damp staining mark to corners of last half of book (around 4 leaves of book).
The first Dickens story Rackham attempted. Despite its ghostliness and opportunities for the supernatural, Rackham did not exploit these to the full. He seems to have voluntarily passed up the opportunity to terrify his readers, choosing instead to calm them with charming images of families enjoying the spirit of Christmas. Perhaps his choice resulted from the mood of national anxiety and tragedy of wartime. 147pp. 8 x 6". 12 colour plates plus b/w illustrations and decorations. First American edition. Lavender cloth, gilt titles and vignette to front cover. Grey/white pictorial endpapers. Some light bumping and wear to spine and corners. Fading to spine. Foxing to endpapers, outer page edges and a few page margins. All colour plates are present, with captioned tissue-guards. Wrapper is in two pieces, all the way down spine edge next to front cover; repaired previously to verso with tape. A few other closed tears and small nicks, but minimal loss.

Small split in cloth to top of spine. Covers a little marked. Front joint beginning to crack. Page edges lightly browned. A few light marks to text block edge. Plates are in very good condition.

Spine bumped and faded with 3.5" piece of red cloth stuck to top part of spine, looks like spine is missing underneath. Splits and fraying to both sides of middle of spine. Wear to corners and cover edges. Covers are grubby and marked. Rear joint starting to crack. Couple of tissue guards creased. Some grubby marks/fingermarks but most pages are clean. All plates present.

Spine bumped and worn with a few tiny splits. Corners bumped and worn. Darkening to spine and cover edges. Covers are grubby. Front endpaper is MISSING. Small bookseller's sticker to rear pastedown. Text block is grubby. A few marks and grubby fingermarks to contents. All plates present.
Blue cloth, gilt title to spine. Colour illustrations to text throughout. 45 pages. Spine slightly bumped. Name plate to front endpaper. Pale page browning else contents clean. Dustwrapper is just a little chipped at top and tail of spine, is a bit grubby and foxed to front edge of spine fold.
