Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
The Brown children go to stay with their Aunt Adelaide in London and Nurse Matilda has to be called in again. Small format. Blue boards with gilt titles and vignettes to covers. B/w text illustrations throughout. Spine bumped. Light foxing to endpapers and textblock. Dustwrapper has clear adhesive film stuck to it causing the colour to 'bleed' a little. Spine is faded. End of silk ribbon is foxed and slightly frayed.

What happens when Nurse Matilda arrives makes remarkable telling... Green boards, richly decorated with gilt. Red endpapers and pagemarker. B/w drawings. 128pp. 6 x 4". Some light wear to cover edges. Small tear/chip along top of page edge to front endpaper. Fading and spotting to outer page edges. Wrapper is price-cut with edge-creasing and chipping; browning to spine. A few scuff marks to wrapper.

Christianna Brand
Christianna Brand (17 December 1907 – 11 March 1988) was a British crime writer and children's author born in British Malaya. She had a number of different occupations, including model, dancer, shop assistant and governess. Brand also wrote under the pseudonyms Mary Ann Ashe, Annabel Jones, Mary Brand, Mary Roland, and China Thompson. Christianna Brand served as chair of the Crime Writers' Association from 1972 to 1973.
