  • The Chalet School has known many changes during its existence. It is to have yet another - and a big one. All the summer term the girls have the coming great event running through their minds and it colours much of what happens. It does not, however, prevent Middles from being the usual imps one expects Middles to be, and they all contrive at least once to startle the school violently. Two old and well-loved friends return and there is a change coming for Joey Maynard as well as for the school. However, Bride Bettany's last term as Head Girl goes smoothly on the whole, and the school at large echoes her sentiments at the Regatta supper when she gives them the toast@ "The Chalet School! May it go on and prosper!"
