Very good condition in a good dustwrapper. The very first Famous Five book in which the Five encounter a ruined castle, a wreck and buried treasure. Red boards. 191 pages. Blue pictorial endpapers showing the island. B/w illustrations.

13th impression. Foxing and a few marks to outer page edges and a few page margins. Wrapper is torn in two at rear join; 1.5" of loss to base of spine; other tears and chips, with damp mark along edge of rear panel.

  • When siblings Julian, Dick and Anne learn that they cannot go for their usual summer holiday to Polseath, they are invited to spend the summer with their Aunt Fanny and Uncle Quentin at their home Kirrin Cottage, in the coastal village of Kirrin. They also meet their cousin Georgina, a surly, difficult girl, who tries hard to live like a boy and only answers to the name George.
