- The twins, Bob and Mary stay with Granny in her old house. There they meet their cousin Ralph for the first time. Ralph is big and boastful, but he is a coward and a cry-baby too, as Bob and Mary soon find out.
- Then one wet day, Granny tells them about the necklace. The children look for it and in the library they find a chart with a secret passage marked on it! But the passage is not so easy to find, thanks to Ralph. The twins think he told them to look in the wrong place so that he could find it first. They find the passage at last and the adventure of the secret necklace puts an end to Ralph's boasting - for ever!
