A chronicle written in Anglo-Norman French and translated here by Sir Herbert Maxwell. Documenting the history of Britain until 1363, one of the few early chronicles written by a layman. Limited edition of 95. White vellum spine with gilt title, Red cloth boards with gilt vignette to front. Handmade paper, deckle-edged. Top edge gilt. 18 colour plates of heraldic shields with tissue guards. This is copy 33 of 95. Boards & spine mottled. Bookplate to front pastedown. A few foxspots present. All plates present minus three tissue-guards.

A few scattered minor foxspots. All plates present.

Brick red cloth with gilt title to spine. Some tipped-in colour plates and b/w plate pages. Couple of bumps to cover edges. A little scuffing to covers. Inscription in ink to front endpaper. Some foxing to pages. Page 187 has a blue crayon 'amendment' to text. A few page margins have uneven edges, where pages were uncut. Wrapper is unevenly browned, with edge-tears and chips; some repaired to verso with sticky tape. Loss to a couple of tears; creased.
