Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. New Naturalist Monograph no. 2. Green buckram cloth. 16 b/w plates. 20 maps & diagrams. Coloured photographic frontispiece. For five years during the Second World War, the author, an Oxford Scholar, was a prisoner of war. During this period, he undertook a study of the Redstart, which, in Europe, appears to favour the surroundings of human habitation. This book is a New Naturalist Monograph, being deemed by the Editors of New Naturalist, as an important study of a single species.
Covers are unevenly faded. Bookplate to front pastedown. Light foxing to endpapers and outer page edges; some page edge browning. Wrapper is covered with clear plastic, stuck at edges to verso (by Publisher). Wrapper is also browned with some foxing.
