Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. Generally regarded as the definitive edition of this much-loved classic with Shepherd's illustrations bringing Mole, Ratty and Toad to exuberant life. B/w illustrations throughout. Endpapers show map of the Riverbank. Green cloth, gilt titles, vignette to front cover. 312pp, top edge green.
Spine slightly bumped. Very pale browning to endpapers. Large but very neat inscription in ink to front fly-leaf (includes poetry). One hinge cracked. Dustwrapper is lightly browned, particularly to spine and has a few small, light damp stains to spine and spine edges. A lovely copy of this early Shepard edition.
