Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. American edition. Veronica Watson's ambition is to become a ballet dancer. An orphan, she is sent to the north of England but manages to continue her ballet lessons and gains an audition at Sadler's Wells. Blue mottled boards with white titles to spine and white vignette to front board. B/w illustrations. 220 pages.

SIGNED by author to front endpaper. Spine and corners bumped. Rear cover and spine speckled with small white marks. Endpapers are browned. Contents are very good. Dustwrapper is edgeworn and creased with a couple of small tears. Foxing to rear panel and spine. Wrapper is browned on verso.

  • Veronica Weston's ambition is to become a ballet dancer, but for a long time it seems she will never be able to realize it.
  • An orphan, Veronica is sent far from her beloved London to live with her relatives in the north of England, where she meets Sebastian, her 'cousin-sort-of', and her real cousins Fiona and Caroline.
  • This delightful story tells of the fun they all have - their picnics on the moors, their rewarding and unusual Wayside Stall, and their ponies.
  • Happily, Veronica is able to keep up with her ballet lessons while living in Northumberland, and when her former dancing teacher, Madam Viret, arrives unexpectedly from London in time to see a much-improved Veronica dance, the turning point in Veronica's life is reached.
