Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. Olduvai Gorge is a valley in the Serengeti Plains at the western margin of the Eastern Rift Valley in northern Tanzania. The excavations of Beds I and II yield large quantities of the remains of early man. Large format. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. Colour frontis, b/w plates, fold-outs and text illustrations. 8 excavation plans in rear pocket.
Inscription in ink to front endpaper, ink stamp name to front pastedown. Bookplate to front endpaper. Text block grubby. Contents clean. All 8 plans to rear pocket present. Dustwrapper is grubby and browned on rear panel, edge-worn and chipped, strengthened with clear tape to verso. Stain to verso not visible to front panels.
