Good condition. Or, Manifestations of the Divine Wisdom in the Natural History of Animals. The greatest part of this book was originally published in the form of successive papers in "Excelsior." Several entire chapters have been added to make the survey of the animate creation more complete, and the whole haws been carefully revised. Green cltoh boards, gitl title and vignettes to spine, vignette of large bowl with a fish inside to front board. Title to spine is 'Life by P.H. Gosse'. B/w plates and illustrations to text. viii and 363 pages including index.
Spine browned, split & worn at edges. Corners rubbed and worn. Contemporary inscription in ink to front endpaper and name in pencil. Joints split, cracked to bottom, starting to come unstuck from spine. Text block browned. Prelims almost detached. A few pencil annotations (underlining), grubby marks and some foxing. A good working copy, sold with all faults.
