Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper.
F. Fraser Darling spent two years with the red deer and this book describes in beautiful detail all that he learnt. From the excitement of the rutting season to the struggle for mastery of the herd. Green cloth boards, gilt title to spine. B/w photos. Large folding map. viii and 215 pages including index. Reprint (corrected). Couple of tiny spots to front board. Lower edge of boards rubbed. Text block browned, with foxing to top edge. Foxing to endpapers and prelims else contents clean. Price-cut pale green dustwrapper is edge-worn with a few small tears, slight loss to top & tail of spine, spine browned, tape marks to front panel, a few grubby marks.

Three-quarters red leather binding, 5 raised bands to spine, gilt title on green title block to spine. Marbled boards, endpapers and text block. 8 b/w plates including frontis. 277 pages. Light rubbing to edges of leather, spine lightly browned, boards lightly scuffed. Front joint just starting to crack. Frontispiece has been cut out (trimmed around outline of The Woburn Beech) and stuck down on to plate. Some browning and foxing to contents, heavy to prelims and first few pages. Overall, a decent copy.
