Very good condition in a almost very good dustwrapper. Originally published in 1897 by J.M. Dent and then enlarged and revised in 1907. First reprinted by Heinnemann in 1909. 24 tipped-in colour plates and 12 full-page tinted illustrations. Brown cloth, gilt title, brown decorations to spine and front cover. 549pp. Cr 4to.
Some light bumping and wear to spine and corners. Presentation plate to front pastedown. Front joint next to half-title page is cracked. Some foxing. Creasing to tissue-guard of frontis. A few hinges are pulled - binding starting to become a little weak in a couple of places. Foxing to outer page edges. All plates present. Original wrapper is edge-creased, with some grubby marks; a couple of small pieces of loss to corners.
