Very good condition in a very good dustwrapper. The Sutton Hoo ship-burial, excavated near Woodbridge, Suffolk in 1939, is the most important single archaeological discovery every made in the British Isles. This is the first volume only in a series of four which present the dfinitive account of the discovery. Large format. B/w and a few colour maps and photos, fold-out diagrams. Blue cloth boards, gilt title to spine, deer vignette to front. 12 plates in map pocket to rear. A large, heavy volume.
A few foxspots to endpapers. Contents pages vii-x not bound in but present. All maps etc present in rear pocket. Blue dustwrapper is creased to base of spine with 1" tear to either side. A nice copy.
