SPITFIRE PARADE

by W.E. Johns

Published by Oxford University Press; Humphrey Milford. 1941

Very good condition in a good dustwrapper. Stories of Biggles in war time. Blue cloth with picture of aeroplane and parachutist on front cover. Colour frontis plus full-page b/w illustrations. 256 pages. This is the first "thin" edition of this title.

REDUCED FROM £840. Spine slightly bumped. Corners slightly rubbed. A couple of tiny dents to top edge of front cover and one to top edge of rear cover. Slight crease to spine. A few faint foxspots to covers. Name and date in ink to front pastedown. Pale foxing to half-title and a few foxspots to margins of prelims and outer page edges. Pictorial wrapper is worn at edges and slightly grubby with a few small edge-chips and closed edge-tears. There is slight loss from top of spine affecting part of the title lettering. Overall a bright clean copy of this scarce title in its rare original wrapper.

  • One of only a handful of Biggles book to be original published without "Biggles" in the title. A collection of stoires most of which have been adapted from World War one stories first issued in BIggles in France. These stories are set at the headquaters of 266 squardron in the second World War.
  • This title is surprisingly in demand considering it is no one of W.E. Johns finest pieces of work.
