Very large format (12.5 x 10"). Beige cloth with brown and red title and colour illustration to front. With twelve tissue-guarded colour plates by Rountree and eighty-four pen and ink text illustrations by Bull. A wonderful edition of this classic story. Spine and corners bumped and rubbed. Damp stain to lower edge of front cover (also affecting pastedown inside). Name and date in ink to front free-endpaper. Grubby fingermarks to page margins throughout. Some light damp staining to edges of plates and tissue-guards (not affecting the actual illustrations). One of the plates has a closed tear to the inner margin at base. Still a decent copy.

Large but light circular stain to front panel.

Endpapers lightly browned and foxed. Top edge of textblock is dusty and also slightly stained (does not affect page margins).
