Cape Clear Island, the most southerly point of Ireland, apart from the nearby Fastnet Rock, has been the site of a bird obsservatory since 1959. This account of the island, it flora and fauna, its inhabitants and history is weighted in favour of the birds since the island offers much of exceptional ornithological interest. Mottled blue boards, gilt title to spine. B/w sketches. 207 pages. ISBN: 085661002X. A fine copy in a blue wrapper which is rubbed at edges and corners, a little scuffed and has a small closed tear to top of front edge of spine.

Marbled endpapers. Front board detached. Board edges worn. Covers scuffed. Bookplate of Francis T. Touzel of Jersey on front pastedown. Foxing throughout. Pages 173-178 of volume II have been bound in upside down and back to front (pages run from 172-178, 173-179). Rear joint a little fragile from the outside - leather split, else binding of contents is nice tight. A good candidate for rebinding.
