The perfect showcase for Dulac's genius in depicting eastern fantasy with 20 magnificent tipped-in colour plates. Cream buckram stamped in rich gilt. Front cover has peacock design above and elephants below a central wreath. Spine has gilt titles and vignette of a flower urn. Peacock feather design on endpapers. Brown decorative border to each page. 11.25 x 8.75". Unpaginated. Spine and corners slightly bumped. Covers slightly grubby, spine slightly browned. Bookplate(?) to front free-endpaper. All plates present and in fine condition. Small brown spot to lower margins of a couple of pages and a few very small, light fingermarks to page margins. Overall, contents are nice and clean (not forgetting this book is well over 100 years old!).

The first of the Milne Pooh quartet in which we meet Winnie-the-Pooh for the first time in a poem entitled Teddy Bear. 'A bear, however hard he tries, Grows tubby without exercise...' Complete with blue ribbon page marker. This is the second deluxe edition. Spine and corners slightly bumped and rubbed. Spine very slightly browned. Indentation to centre of front cover, pencil mark to rear cover. Name and date in ink to front free-endpaper. Small patches of surface paper damage to both pastedowns. Page marker is detached but still present. Some joints are cracked and some are lightly pulled but the binding is still tight.
